The classifieds tell you what sellers want
Search any UK gun site and you will find a hundred adverts and a hundred asking prices. What you cannot find out is whether any of them are realistic — because an advert only records what somebody hoped for, and unsold guns sit at optimistic prices for months.
We tell you what buyers paid
Auction houses publish their results after every sale: what each gun made, and what failed to sell. That is the only public record of real transaction prices in the British gun trade. We collect it, group it by model, and publish the median.
How to use it
Buying
Look up the model before you view it. If the advert is well above the auction figure, you know how much of the price is warranty, dealer margin and optimism — and you know what to open with.
Selling
See what your gun has actually been making, and what the same model failed to sell for. Price it against evidence rather than against the most hopeful advert you can find.
Keeping an eye
Compare makers and models against each other. Small bores against 12-bores, English sidelocks against Italian over-and-unders — the differences are larger than most people assume.
What the data shows
Published estimates behave as a floor, not a guess.
Of 108 sold lots on record, 0 sold below the auctioneer's low estimate and 50 beat the top of it. If you are buying, the estimate is roughly the least you will pay. If you are selling, expect the top of the range or better.

What this is not
These are indicative market figures compiled from public auction results. They are not formal, probate or insurance valuations, and they are not an offer to buy or sell. Every page states how many sales its figure rests on, and says so plainly when that number is too small to mean much — a single result is shown as a single result, never dressed up as a market value.
Hammer price is not the price you pay: add the buyer's premium and VAT, and expect a dealer to ask more again. The method page explains all of it, and the full dataset is downloadable so you can check any figure against the auctioneer's own published result.
